Getting Around Santorini in Winter: Bus Timetables & Travel Tips

2017년 겨울에 방문했던 산토리니의 버스터미널 풍경이다.
이곳은 섬의 주요 지역인 이아(Oia), 피라(Fira), 카마리(Kamari), 아크로티리(Akrotiri), 레드비치(Red Beach) 등으로 향하는 시외버스들이 출발하는 중심 터미널이었다.
일종의 이아마을 기점 역할을 하는 주요 교통 허브로, 비수기임에도 몇몇 노선은 일정 간격으로 운행되고 있었다.

겨울에는 버스 운행 간격이 매우 길기 때문에, 여행 전 반드시 시간표를 확인해야 한다.
특히 오후 시간대 이후에는 버스 운행이 급격히 줄어드니, 돌아오는 버스 시간까지 미리 체크해두는 게 필수다.

✈️ 버스운행 관련 팁
비수기에는 운행 횟수가 적어 한 번 놓치면 다음 버스를 몇 시간이나 기다려야 할 수도 있다.
버스 정류장 근처 카페나 레스토랑은 대부분 문을 닫으니, 따뜻한 음료는 미리 챙겨가자. 

크리스마스(25일), 다음날(26일), 새해(1월 1일), 주현절(1월 6일)은 항구행 노선을 제외하고는 대부분의 노선이 운행되지 않는것 같다. 렌트카를 이용하지 않을 경우에는 해당 날짜를 피해서 일정을 짜거나 택시를 이용해야 되겠다.

Getting Around Santorini in Winter: Bus Timetables & Travel Tips

These photos were taken during my visit to Santorini in the winter of 2017.
The terminal shown here is the main bus station where intercity buses depart for major destinations across the island, including Oia, Fira, Kamari, Akrotiri, and Red Beach.
It serves as a key transport hub and the starting point for buses heading to and from Oia Village.

During the off-season, bus frequency is very limited, so it’s important to check the timetable carefully before heading out.
After the afternoon hours, the number of buses drops drastically, so make sure you know the return schedule in advance.

✈️ Tip
In winter, missing one bus might mean waiting for hours for the next.
Since many cafés and restaurants near the station are closed, it’s a good idea to bring a warm drink with you while you wait.
